Board Members/Committees

Volunteering on the board with Early Childhood PTA will give you the knowledge and confidence to join your child's elementary PTA board when the time comes. This is a GREAT place to start being involved! If you would like to volunteer or help with a position before committing, please contact president@tcecpta.org.
Nominations for the 2012-13 School year will begin soon!

 Just a few of the Positions:
      • Parliamentarian - Advise the presiding officer on questions of parliamentary procedure.
      • Historian - To document all TCECPTA activities.
      • Nursery - Take nursery reservations, serve as the liaison between the head sitter and executive board, set up nursery rooms prior to general meetings, act as greeter for the nursery area, periodically sanitize, check and organize toys, organize snacks for meetings. Recruit a volunteer to plan a monthly children's program and craft. 
      • Budget & Finance - Plan and organize our fundraisers for the year
      • Children's Outings/Playgroup Coordinator - Help plan Children's Outings for the year and help coordinate playgroups with interested people.
      • Publicity/Communications - Communicate information about our organization to local newspapers and online resources as needed. Print promotional material. Send information to members. 
      • Children's Programs (non board position) - Coordinate Children's Programs at Meetings.
      • Arts in Educations
      • Council Delegate - Requires ability to sit quietly on one occasion and talk at another! Attend the Lewisville Council meetings five or more times during the school year and then inform TCECPTA members of any important information. (two positions - one open)

         

Support Our Troops

Once a year at a general meeting we accept donations for items to send to family members/friends of TCECPTA members who are serving overseas in Iraq.
Items Requested:
Clothing – white or black socks, plain color clothes (do not want anything that would make them stand out as an American in a crowd), caps, underwear, scarves.
Food – beef jerky, drink mixes, tuna or chicken packs, canned fruit, fruit bars, candy, coffee, gum, granola bars, instant coffee
Toiletries – lip balm, sunblock lotion (SPF 40 or above), moisturizing lotions, shampoo, soap, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, wipes, room fresheners
Recreation – batteries, DVD’s, CD’s, phone cards, books, magazines, puzzle books (crossword, word search, sudoku), cards, games
Office Supplies – greeting cards, stationary, pens, journal books, diaries, containers and bottles of all sizes and kinds
Medical / First Aid Supplies – Band-Aids, knee and ankle braces, foot power, insect repellant, disinfectant, first aid creams, athlete’s foot cream and powder
Also consistently asked for items are sheets, blankets, towels, power converters, fans, heaters, and Zip Lock bags, one use cameras.

Around the Community

  • Christian Community Action (CCA) has a well developed program of volunteer opportunities. They support qualified students with two new outfits at the start of school as well as sponsor a number of other projects throughout the year including Food Drives and the Toy Drive over the holidays.   • Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County is a child friendly place where child victims can be interviewed and counseled during investigations of alleged child abuse. Mission: To provide justice and healing for abused children through interagency collaboration. They have an ongoing wish list of items posted on their website. For more information contact Dan Leal at (972)317-2818. 
  • The Colony Animal Shelter has a constant need for old newspapers. You can drop them off at the shelter, located at  4720 E. Lake Highlands, off of Main St., just north of Blockbuster. Or you can bring them to our General Meetings and Margaret will take them over for you.
  • Lillie J. Jackson Early Childhood Center is seeking volunteers for our "Storybook Buddies" program.  Volunteers would read with 4-year olds once a week, and can sign up between 8:30 and 11 am or 12:45-3:15 pm Monday-Friday on LISD school days.  Anyone who may be able to read in another language other than English (especially Spanish) is also needed.  We would like to start our program by mid-September, and all volunteers must have LISD background checks.  If anyone is interested, they may contact Katherine Haule, principal, at haulek@lisd.net, or call the school at (469) 713-5986.
